The Weyborne Estate in Muddy Stilettos "One of the finest drops around"The Weyborne EstateNov 20, 20252 min readSituated at the highest point of the South Downs National Park, the Weyborne Estate just south of Haslemere offers stunning views alongside exceptional English sparkling wines. The vineyards and estate are part of historic Blackdown Park, where the River Wey begins its journey to the sea and where green pastures, undulating hills and lush valleys stretch as far as the eye can see. The first vines, planted in 2007, are a classic combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Using traditional methods from France’s Champagne region, they produce the Weyborne Estate Family Reserve — a Chardonnay-led cuvée and a true vintage reflection of the estate. They also produce Oriana, the estate’s flagship cuvée and most widely distributed wine, known for its elegance, balance and distinctive low dosage.Planning an event? The Weyborne Estate is a gorgeous destination where natural beauty, history and elegance come together to create unforgettable experiences. The viewing platform — perched 190 metres above sea level — offers sweeping views of the South Downs and the distant sea, making it perfect for private gatherings, celebrations and special occasions. There’s also The Dovecote, a charming setting for private dining, family celebrations and corporate gatherings, with its picturesque backdrop and a pergola ideal for BBQs overlooking the lower vineyards. The Bathing House, once a retreat for swimmers including Lord Alfred Tennyson, offers a unique and tranquil setting at the source of the River Wey for intimate, outdoorsy gatherings — blending history, nature and quiet elegance. The estate is also home to Weyborne House, built by the prominent Yaldwyn family in 1640 at the foot of the River Wey to give access to England’s purest water source. Over the centuries, guests to Blackdown Park have included King Edward VII, Oliver Cromwell, George Bernard Shaw and Alfred Lord Tennyson, all of whom drank from the crystal-clear, life-giving spring.Muddy Stilettos, 20th November 2025
